Connecting with customers

By now, almost everyone has heard of a blog. Just browse through Pinterest or do a Google search and you’ll find a million tips on how to blog and even how to make money blogging. But for most people, especially small business owners, blogging may seem like a waste of time. Take for instance, my local tree trimmer. He is way too busy to write a blog and may even wonder what he would blog about, BUT what he doesn’t know is that the way to clients is connection. And connections are built through blogging! Writing on a weekly basis is a great way to ensure that your company name is always at the top of the potential or returning customer’s list.

Companies that blog have far better marketing results!

Furthermore, blogging can increase a search engine’s ability to find you. To emphasize this point, Rick Burnes of HubSpot did a little research. He looked at data from 1,531 HubSpot customers (mostly small- and medium-sized businesses). 795 of the businesses in his sample blogged, 736 didn’t. Here’s what he found:

A company that blogs has:

  • 55% more visitors to website
    • More visitors = more leads to convert to sales
  • 97% more inbound links
    • Inbound links tell search engines you’re legit and means you’re more likely to be found
  • 434% more indexed pages
    • More indexed pages means that search engines have more chances to find you

Blog, blog, blog!

In conclusion, just do it! Write about your work, write about community issues, find a helpful article to share, send your customers some tips and tricks, add a few pictures and watch the magic happen! It’s easy to see that blogging can increase a search engine’s ability to find you, but if you still aren’t convinced you have the time or you’re at a loss for content, we can help!
